Hotel & Surrounding Area

David and Jane, owners of the Bacchus, over the last few years have taken the traditional character and charm of the building and refurbished both upstairs and downstairs to enhance and update the ambience and comfort for your stay.

The Bacchus offers 23 bedrooms ranging from twin, double and family rooms all with either ensuite shower or bathroom. We have an easy to use stair lift for visitors needing aid to climb the stairs, free wi-fi throughout the Hotel, tea/coffee making facilities and colour TV in all bedrooms.

The Hotel has a large Barista Coffee / Tea Lounge, a spacious Eatery Lounge/Bar, Reception, intimate restaurant for smaller gatherings and large Function Room/Restaurant housing approximately 120 people, with newly attached extension. Both restaurants/function rooms are ideal for gatherings such as meetings, weddings, funerals, christenings and birthday parties. Both have lovely views of the lawns, patio and gardens. We are ‘disabled friendly'.

The rear of the premises has a spacious car park for residents and visitors, with CCTV installed throughout.

A fascinating history

The Bacchus dates back to 1691! In the Fifteenth Century, the Jolly Bacchus (as it was then known) became a livery stable and ale house for seamen and traders using the then Port, mainly from Lincoln and Horncastle.

The history of this unique building is breathtaking, with photos of Victorian holiday makers playing tennis on the lawns to images of the disastrous floods in the 1950s.

The Team

For the past 20+ years, the Bacchus has been under the helm of David and Jane Smith. They have undertaken a continual programme of refurbishment with the aim of maintaining the charm and tradition which dates back to 1691encompassed with an up dated twist. All staff are a credit to the Bacchus, they hold a genuine affection to the Hotel which is shown through their friendly and professional approach to visitors and customers alike. Team work is a key issue which drives the business, resulting in a home from home atmosphere, personal service and efficiency.
